Michael Cox, Senior Vice President
Michael Cox got his start in the development industry
while still a marketing and finance student at the University of Texas
in Austin. Beginning in 1982, he was a development manager for Governor
John Connally and Ben Barnes in the development of the Estates of Barton
Creek Golf and Resort Community. In 1987, Cox moved to Houston to work
for the developer of First Colony, a Gerald D. Hines Interests company,
during that project's development.
The ethics and professional relationships forged
during his work on those communities were further strengthened on other
projects. As an employee involved in the development of a resort
community in the Caribbean, Mr. Cox experienced first-hand the
importance of the agility required to be successful in the development
industry.
Mr. Cox quickly identified the need to maximize
efficiency within the industry. He envisioned a company that was lean,
agile, and able to adapt and change as the circumstances required it.
The result of this vision is Johnson Development Services, Inc., a
full-service development company with a strong construction background.
Mr. Cox is an active member of the Urban Land
Institute (ULI) as a National Community Development Committee Member. He
also participates in the Houston Home Builders Association and works
with various realtor and community-related groups.
Michael Cox draws on decades of experience to
anticipate questions and understand the needs of contractors. Johnson
Development Services, Inc. is a ULI member and one of the first 100
Professional Community Management Companies.
